Write Jira descriptions and comments in Markdown
Markdown Studio adds a Markdown editor with live preview to every Jira issue. Your content is saved as native Jira formatting, so everyone sees normal Jira content.
1. Install
A Jira admin installs Markdown Studio for Jira from the Atlassian Marketplace (Apps > Explore more apps). There's a 30-day free trial.
2. Edit a description
Open any issue, select the ••• (more actions) menu and choose Edit description in Markdown. The current description opens as Markdown next to a live preview. Edit, then select Save or press Ctrl/Cmd+S.
3. Comment in Markdown
Choose Add comment in Markdown from the same menu, write your comment and select Post (or press Ctrl/Cmd+Enter).
4. Add the Markdown panel (optional)
From the issue's apps button, add the Markdown panel. It gives you a quick comment composer, your recent comments with Edit in Markdown, and a shortcut to the description editor.
